When You Come to Christ the War Becomes Visible

I have two friends very close to my heart. A brother and a sister in Christ, and right now, they are struggling…

One is going through a painful divorce while raising little children. The other is a single parent fighting difficult family members who have different beliefs. It is clear they are facing serious trials, and yes, they are being tested and tempted by the enemy.

I think many of us who truly come to Christ eventually realize something important. Life does not suddenly become perfect. In many ways, it feels like the beginning of a war. A spiritual war.

I told my friend something that might sound strange at first. Be glad that you are being attacked. Because it shows that you belong to Christ.

Jesus Already Won the War

If Christ is with us, who can really be against us? Christ won the war completely. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. Every knee will bow to Him one day.

The Bible makes this promise clear:

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:10-11 (NKJV)

We have authority in Christ.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

Because of this, we pray and declare everything in His name. Our marriages. Our children. Our homes. Our lives.

So sit and think for a moment. If you are covered by the blood of Jesus, what can really happen to you?

Store Your Treasures in Heaven

It is easy to let fear take over when we hear about sickness, tragic moments, wars, and bad news. But God says “Do not be afraid” so many times in the Bible (some say over 300 times!).

We want life to be good here on Earth, but when you came to Jesus, no one promised a life without any trouble or persecution. Just look at the early figures in the New Testament:

  • Stephen was stoned to death (Acts 7:58).
  • John the Baptist was beheaded for speaking the truth (Mark 6:27).
  • James (the apostle) was killed with the sword (Acts 12:2).

They kept their focus on God’s promises. We should store our treasures in heaven, not here on Earth.

Your Fight is Not with People

It is important for us to know who the real enemy is. Your fight is not against your spouse, your friend, or your family member.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)

God created the spiritual world, and trust me, that battle happens every day, whether you believe it or not.

So, the next time you have a big fight with your husband, wife, or a family member, know this: the person in front of you is not the real issue.

Take Your Battle to the Prayer Closet

Don’t fight the enemy where he wants you to fight (in anger, fear, or shouting). Take your battle to the prayer closet.

Put on the full armor of God. Lift up your family, your struggles, and boldly declare the victory Christ has already won.

The next time the enemy comes, you will recognize his attack and you can smile. Not because it’s easy, but because you know whose side you are on.

The King of Kings is with you. You cannot lose!

With love,

Ivana
