As I am writing this, I realize I am writing to myself just as much as to anyone else.
Every year we make New Year’s resolutions. We focus on diet, fitness, habits, and goals. But how often do we stop and ask ourselves a deeper question?
How can I get closer to God?
How can I become the godly woman He is calling me to be?
A godly wife. A godly mother.
Maybe you feel disconnected from God right now. Maybe you think He is distant or silent. But perhaps you are not far from Him at all. Maybe you are simply spiritually dry.
So let’s make a different kind of decision for 2026. Let’s change that.
Make God the Priority in Everything
When we truly put God first, everything else begins to fall into its proper place. This does not mean life becomes easy, but it does become ordered.
When we look at our husband, our children, and other people through God’s eyes, our perspective changes. We become slower to judge, quicker to love, and more patient in difficult moments. We begin to see people not through our emotions, but through grace.
God is a God of order. For life to work as it should, there must be order in our hearts as well.
Jesus first.
Then marriage.
Then children.
Then everything else.
When this order is reversed, confusion and exhaustion often follow.
Start Your Day with Prayer
Before you reach for your phone and rush into the day, get down on your knees. Thank Him that you are alive. Thank Him for what He has already given you, even if life feels hard right now.
Stay in prayer for a moment. Do not rush. Do not perform. Just be in His presence. Sometimes the most powerful prayer is silence before God.
Be in the Word
You know how breakfast often determines how the rest of your day goes? It is very similar with God’s Word. Whether or not we spend time in the Bible shapes how we think, speak, and respond.
I know everyone is in a different season of life. Maybe you wake up multiple times at night to nurse a baby. Maybe your mornings feel chaotic. But if you have the opportunity to wake up before the rest of your household, it truly changes your day.
It shapes how you show up as a wife, as a mother, and simply as a person.
Even a small portion of Scripture read slowly is better than none at all.
Find a Church and Community
If you do not currently have a church, now is the time to find one. I know it can be difficult to find a biblically rooted church, but when you do, it is a blessing.
We were never meant to walk this faith journey alone. Community matters. Worshipping together, learning together, and praying together strengthens our faith.
Prayer Walks
Prayer walks are a beautiful way to stay connected to God, especially in busy seasons. You can pray while pushing a stroller, while walking alone in nature, or simply while moving your body.
Speak to God about your worries, your gratitude, your fears, and your hopes. Sometimes walking and praying helps our hearts open in ways sitting still cannot.
Getting closer to God in 2026 is not about perfection. It is about intention. It is about choosing Him again and again, even on days when we feel tired, distracted, or dry.
God is not far. He is near. And when we take even a small step toward Him, He meets us there.
I pray that 2026 will be the year you truly give your life to Jesus and choose to make Him your priority. May this year be filled with His peace, guidance, and grace.
I wish you all the very best in 2026.
With love,
Ivana
